The Big Data Lab at the Department of Industrial Engineering recently hosted an exciting and impactful hackathon focused on analyzing the relationship between perceived sleep quality and measured vital signs.

Students worked with real-world data from the PerMed research project, which includes information from over 5,000 participants who wore smartwatches and completed app-based questionnaires — a unique integration of subjective reports and physiological measurements.

From advanced data preprocessing, through the development of intelligent models, to the presentation of fascinating insights — participants demonstrated exceptional creativity, analytical thinking, and professionalism.

Special thanks to Professor Erez Shmueli for leading this initiative, and to all students and team members who made this hackathon such a great success.

This is what real innovation looks like — when data meets purpose.

Participants included: Omer Hausner, Ron Elias, Eva Mishor, PhD, Maya Reiner, and Or Maymon.
